Call for Papers

We invite extended abstracts for interactive poster presentations at the IROS 2025 Workshop on Building Safe Robots.

Important Dates

• Call for Participation Opens: 1 July 2025
• Submission Deadline: 20 September 2025 → 1 October 2025 → 4 October 2025 (Extended)
• Notification of Acceptance: 5 October 2025 → 7 October 2025 → 13 October 2025 (Extended)
• Camera-ready Submission: 16 October 2025

Awards

• Best Student Paper Award – Sponsored by NOKOV, with a prize of $300 USD
• Best Video Award – Recognizing impactful demonstrations of safety in robotics

Submission Instructions

Please submit a short abstract (max 2 pages) via the workshop's EasyChair submission page (coming soon). All accepted submissions will be presented as posters, with a teaser talk during the morning session.

Contributions are welcome on (but not limited to) the following topics:

• Biomechanics and Cognitive Safety Perception
• Modeling and Evaluation of Risk and Safety
• Soft Materials and Compliant Actuators
• Safe-aware Robot Design and Mechanism
• Regulatory Frameworks and Certification
• Collision Avoidance and Mitigation
• Reflex Strategies and Impact-Aware Manipulation

Submissions will be reviewed by at least two experts. Accepted authors are invited to participate in the Interdisciplinary Impact Clinics for live feedback from academia and industry professionals.

We especially encourage submissions from women, early-career researchers, and interdisciplinary teams.
